September Highlights: International Exhibitions & Artistic Excellence for Charlotte George
Share
September has been a month of deep gratitude and quiet celebration for me as an artist. Over the years, art has felt like both a refuge and a conversation, a way to reveal inner landscapes through color, texture, and light. So when recognition arrives, it brings a subtle reminder of how deeply meaningful this work can be. Today I want to share two honors that have touched me deeply and made this a month to celebrate.
River’s Return I & III — Featured at Part Crowd Gallery
Early in September, two paintings from my River’s Return series, River’s Return I and River’s Return III which were selected for an online exhibition at Part Crowd Gallery in Toronto, Canada. It’s a deeply meaningful opportunity to have these works appear in a virtual gallery with an international audience. If you’d like to view the show, you can see it online here: Part Crowd Gallery Online Exhibition
These pieces explore the rhythm between movement and stillness in landscapes shaped by water, memory, and light. River’s Return I embraces the hush of sunlit ripples over a river, while River’s Return III leans into light dancing on shifting surfaces, layered with reflections of place and time. That they’ve been chosen for this exhibition is, for me, a validation, confirmation that others are receiving the emotional whispers I try to paint.
When an artwork is shown in a gallery, especially online, it becomes available to a broader circle of viewers: collectors, curators, art lovers in distant cities. There is both vulnerability and excitement in that gesture. But more than validation, it’s a reminder that art is a bridge, one that can reach across geographic walls and invite someone into the same space you felt while creating.
Americano V — Finalist & Artistic Excellence Award, Blue Koi Gallery’s Brush with Nature
Later in the month, I received news that Americano V has been designated a Finalist in the Brush with Nature Competition and Exhibition, organized by Blue Koi Gallery, and I was honored with their Artistic Excellence Award. This recognition means so much, not just because it’s a juried honor, but because it aligns with why I make art, to explore quiet beauty, contrast, and emotional resonance.
The Brush with Nature theme resonates deeply with my practice. Though Americano V is grounded in neutral tones and an early-light palette, it carries the same invitation: to return, to reflect, to move forward gently. To see that a jury saw something strong, expressive, and valid in that work is deeply humbling.
The exhibition is currently open and will run through the end of September. You can learn more and view the show here: Blue Koi Gallery Brush with Nature Exhibition
Reflections on Recognition and the Artist’s Journey
Receiving exhibition selections and awards can feel like stars lighting up a long road you’ve been walking all along. But even more than that, they encourage me to continue. They remind me that the quiet experiments, the late nights mixing inks and layering textures, the moments of “not knowing” all of that can ripple outward.
I’ve always believed that art isn’t just about big gestures or dramatic statements. It’s often about capturing a whisper: a flicker of light on water, the edge where land and river meet, the way a shadow lingers. Recognition like these exhibitions says to me: Yes, that whisper matters. Others hear it too.
I hope anyone reading this knows that creativity is not always loud or immediate but it is persistent. If you’ve ever doubted your voice, your timing, or your direction, let this season’s surprises in my life be a quiet encouragement: do the work, keep showing up, let the light find you.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me and those who’ve followed from the beginning, who’ve shared posts, visited shows, sent kind words, or simply allowed art to live in their space. And thank you to Part Crowd Gallery and Blue Koi Gallery for believing in my work and offering these opportunities.
